University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

 

ARTICLE I NAME

Section I The name of this organization shall be Nuestra Verdad Publicación at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, hereafter referred to as NUVE.


ARTICLE II PURPOSE

Section I NUVE has been formed to showcase Latinx and Hispanic culture, news, and art through mass media, specifically through our website and two publications per semester. NUVE’s goals are to bring light to the struggles and triumphs of the Latinx community as a whole, and promote a community that exemplifies the true Latinx spirit on campus.


ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP

Section I

a. The members of this RSO must be University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students under any level.

b. Students may become members by attending meetings and providing an email for an email subscription list.

Section II

a. Right to achieve leadership positions (chief of committees)


ARTICLE IV COMMITTEES

Section I NUVE shall have the following standing committees:

a. E-Board Committee

i. President: Oversee committee meeting, fulfill responsibilities of vacant positions, facilitate communication between committees and E-Board.

ii. Vice President: Assist committee meeting, fulfill responsibilities of vacant positions, help facilitate communication between committees and E-Board.

iii.Treasurer: Develop fundraising ideas, develop budgets for events, handle monetary accounts for NUVE.

iv.Secretary: Record ideas, plans, organize presentations and keep track of what is said in meetings for NUVE.

v. Event Coordinator: Promote NUVE organization via social media outreach and marketing.

b. Creators Committee

i. Writers must meet set deadlines. Failure to meet more than two deadlines per semester unexcused will result in loss of the position.

ii. No more than four missed deadlines can be excused per semester. Having more than four missed deadlines excused will result in loss of the position.

c. Outreach Committee

i. Create flyers and social media

ii. Communicate with professors, La Casa, RSOs (promoting)

iii.Promote articles and student work

d. Editing Committee

i. Editors must meet deadlines. Failure to meet more than two deadlines per semester unexcused will result in the loss of the position.

ii. No more than four missed deadlines can be excused per semester. Having more than four missed deadlines excused will result in loss of the position.

Section II The duties of the committees include but are not limited to the following:

a. Work with E-Board Committee to coordinate all logistics for publications

b. Plan and attend weekly planning meetings

ARTICLE V RESPONSIBILITIES

Section I

a. Fulfilling responsibilities of the committee you are a part of.

b. Participate in weekly meetings. Failure to do so may result in elimination.

i. General members should attend at least 8 meetings per semester.

ii. Representatives of committees must attend at least 10 meetings per semester.

c. Participate in, plan and/or attend fundraiser events.


ARTICLE VI MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Section I Meetings will be held on Mondays.

Section II Meetings will be held at least 12 times per semester for 60 minutes (40 minutes small committee meeting and 20 minutes big group discussion).

Section III Another meeting will be held at least 12 times per semester for 30 minutes after general meeting with E-Board and Representatives.7


ARTICLE VII OFFICERS

Section I The officers of this council shall be the chairs of NUVE

Section II The officers of this council shall consist of the Executive Board. This includes President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Event Coordinator, Head of Creators, and Head of Editors.


ARTICLE VIII WEBSITE AND MAGAZINE

Section I Writings should be:

i. Respectful and mindful

ii. Fact-based

iii.Cited (no plagiarism)

iv.Based off of Latinx issues
